Carlisle Poppy Display

02 November - 15 October
Organized by: Carlisle Poppy Project
Venue: Town Center, Carlisle MA
1 Bedford Rd
For the past 9 months the residents of Carlisle MA have been knitting, crocheting, felting and sewing more than 3300 red poppies which will be displayed in the town center from 2nd-15th November to mark the centenary of the end of World War One.   These community art installation will take place in Australia and the UK for "Armistice Day" on 11th November, but we believe this is the only one that will happen in the USA. Our display will flow from a cape of poppies around Lady Liberty in the rotary in the town center and across to the town common, where the Roll of Honor for veterans is located.  The display will 'grow' from the 2nd -5th November to signify the increasing loss of life over the 4 years of the war. It is hoped that the installation will encourage all those who live, commute through, and visit the town center to reflect on the significance, and loss of so many, during this horrific war.
