Welcome to the Boston Architecture Diary, your essential guide to architecture exhibitions and events taking place across the city.
Calling all history buffs! Join us on a tour of one of the oldest independent libraries in the United States. Founded in 1807, the Boston Athenaeum is home more than just books (and lots of rare books!) and its collection includes paintings, sculptures, decorative art, and photographs. On our visit, we will learn about the art collection, the beautiful building, and the Athenaeum’s rich history- whose members included Louisa May Alcott, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and John Quincy Adams, among many others!
The tour is about 45 minutes, geared towards adults, and welcomes hungry babies, crying babies, sleeping babies, and parents on maternity/ paternity leave, stay-at-home moms and dads, and any other caretakers.
