Welcome to the Boston Architecture Diary, your essential guide to architecture exhibitions and events taking place across the city.
Dan O’Brien, Associate Professor of Public Policy and Urban Affairs and Criminology and Criminal Justice at Northeastern University, as well as Co-Director of the Boston Area Research Initiative, will discuss his new book The Urban Commons: How Data and Technology Can Rebuild Our Communities. He will share lessons learned regarding how Bostonians take care of neighborhood spaces, drawn from years spent analyzing 311 reports received by the City. He will use this project to illustrate broader lessons for a number of ongoing trends in data and technology in cities, including research-policy partnerships, civic engagement technologies (or civic tech), and what it really means for a city to be "smart." Lunch provided.
