Join us for a panel discussion which considers whether multiple identities in buildings can coexist.

Following the increasing need for buildings to be reused, recycled or repurposed, how do strong architectural identities remain? How do buildings influence their future use?

This event is an opportunity to discuss how buildings are designed, built, used and subsequently reused. We will also consider the possible impacts on communities and critically explore the need to balance future-proof design whilst being creative users of space.

Our panel will include a range of voices from architects and designers to the community users of spaces.

Alex Lifshutz, is an architect and partner in Lifshutz, Davidson, Sandilands practice. His interest in the ability of design to create buildings and cities that respond to change and that are easily adapted by those who use them has led Alex to develop construction and furniture systems that empower users to easily alter buildings both in the initial construction process and throughout their life.

Alexi Marmot, works for The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, is Professor of Facility and Environment Management and Director of the Bartlett Global Centre for Learning Environments. She focuses on improving the effectiveness of buildings through their life course.

Anna Harding, is the Director of Space Studios and transforms derelict and disused buildings into artist studios and for artist practice.

Gee Sinha, is the Director of ReSpace projects who have recently converted The Hive in Dalston as a space for the community to use and transform.

Chaired by Clare Melhuish.

Light refreshments provided.
