Welcome to the London Architecture Diary, your essential guide to architecture exhibitions and events taking place across the city, brought to you by New London Architecture.
Casswell Bank Architects will host an afternoon of ‘Gelato e Architecture’ with La Grotta Ices, a small, inventive local ice cream maker. Visitors will have the opportunity to discuss architecture whilst enjoying ice cream made from seasonal ingredients. Informal advice will be given on plans, schemes and dreams for projects of all sizes. Ice cream will be served from the back of a Piaggio motorcycle van.
The event will take place within a temporary backdrop of light weight structures erected across a section of pavement along St Thomas Street opposite the new entrance to London Bridge Station. The installation will create a festive setting in the public realm that embodies Casswell Bank’s belief that architecture should make a gift to the city. The set up aims to channel the convivial spirit, energy and fun of classic Italian ice cream parlours. It will enhance the presence and identity of La Grotta Ices whilst reflecting the wider sensibilities and approach of an independent London-based food maker and architecture practice. The event will be an opportunity to meet friendly architects and eat delicious ice cream. Visitors are encouraged to bring any information they have about potential projects with them on the day.
