Inclusive environments: designing for neighbourhoods of the futur

12 September 10:00 - 12:30
Organized by: RIBA London
Venue: RIBA
Royal Institute of British Architects
66 Portland Place

This seminar will illustrate how to integrate inclusive design principles whilst still creating beautiful and appealing spaces and places. The speaker will illustrate a range of user needs and reinforce with you how important it is to engage with users to create architecture that is fit for its intended purpose, now and in the future.

Rather than separate out the legislative and design topics into different sections, this seminar will include built-in legislative reminders, such as the Equality Act and the Regulatory Reform Order as well as good practice updates, including new BS8300 and current research, through engaging case studies.

This interactive seminar will provide you with an understanding of inclusive environments through simple measures such as short quizzes, small group discussion as well as live interactive polls.

The seminar will include:

An outline on how to fulfil your social and moral imperative to design spaces and places that are fit for now and the future, in an affordable way that still adds value to the client How to design healthy buildings that make healthy occupants and achieve this through detailing and specification How to create inclusive environments that go beyond Part M and deliver much more than regulatory compliance How inclusive design can be beautiful and does not have to look institutional
