Welcome to the London Architecture Diary, your essential guide to architecture exhibitions and events taking place across the city, brought to you by New London Architecture.
In the 50 years or so that have passed since they first made their mark on the townscape, London’s Brutalist architecture has gone from being hated to very highly rated. Some great examples however, remain less well known especially in the eastern boroughs.
This tour looks at some of the best Brutalist architecture in the capital, taking in buildings in City, Hackney and Tower Hamlets.
Led by an expert architectural guide, this tour takes in important works by mid century architects including Erno Goldfinger, Alison and Peter Smithson, Chamberlin, Powell and Bon and Denys Lasdun.
Meet: 10am Charterhouse Square EC1M. Duration: 2.5 hours approx. Tour ends in Poplar E14. You MUST bring your own bike. For competent cyclists. Cost: £25.50
