Architecture of London will explore how the capital’s buildings have been depicted by, and provided inspiration for, artists over the centuries.


Dating back to the 17th Century, the exhibition will feature a collection of original paintings illustrating outstanding views of Londonfrom artist’s windows, close up/ street views as well as London’s rising skyline and evolving architecture in the immediate aftermath and the years following the Second World War to the present day.


Some of the gallery’s treasures, which are going to be displayed for the very first time, will be showcased alongside key loans from other major British collections, including masterpieces by renowned and emerging artists such as Canaletto, John Gipkyn, William James Grant, Samuel Scott, Uzo Egonou, Waggoner, Lucian Freud, Catherine Yass and many more.
