Architectural Drawing Masterclass: Art Deco to ModernismSaturday 11 May, 10.30am - 4.30pm and Saturday 18 May 10.30am-4.30pmFor ages 18+
Explore the architecture of London, develop your drawing abilities and enjoy learning new creative skills through the world-class collections, the building and surroundings of the RIBA.
Over two weeks you’ll draw in our studio, throughout our iconic Art Deco headquarters and out on location in our local streets to discover how London's architecture has developed over the centuries. Through observational drawing you’ll discover the multifaceted face of Marylebone and Regent’s Park and learn about the events that shaped this historic area of London.
Suitable for all abilities, our course is designed to help you build confidence in using the built environment to develop your drawing skills in different media as well as introducing key techniques and approaches including shading, perspective, texture, scale and context.
You’ll experiment with traditional paper-based techniques as well as digital drawing using iPads. By the end of the workshops you’ll have produced a portfolio of architectural drawings, learnt new ways of creating images of the built environment and gained a more in depth understanding of London’s architecture and history.
