Architecture on Stage: Anupama Kundoo

10 June 19:00 - 21:00
Organized by: The Architecture Foundation in association with Barbican Centre
Venue: Barbican, Frobisher Auditorium 1
Silk Street

Architect Anupama Kundoo joins us to discuss her research focussed architectural practice, working to develop new building technologies with socio-economic benefits.

Anupama Kundoo founded Pondicherry and Berlin-based Anupama Kundoo Architects in 1990, having worked in the experimental community of Auroville in Southern India. Describing her practice as “research-oriented”, Kundoo works to develop new building technologies that can bring socio-economic benefits and minimal environmental impact.

Kundoo will present her work, while discussing the potential of architecture to engage with and address the complex intersections of urbanisation, people, technologies, resources and environment within the context of growing affordability, not only in money terms. Her practice, the result of her quest to build appropriately, also considers every project as an opportunity to build knowledge and build community in order to empower people in the process of achieving affordable built spaces.

The Architecture Foundation programmes Architecture on Stage in partnership with the Barbican Centre.
