HelioMet Getting Ready

02 June - 30 June
Organized by: The Cass, London Metropolitan University
The Cass School of Architecture
Central House
59-63 Whitechapel High Street
E1 7PF

We are designing and building "SOL_ID", a fully functional prototype of solar powered sustainable affordable housing for competing at the prestigious Solar Decathlon Latin American & Caribbean 2015 in December.

Team Heliomet is an interdisciplinary student team operating out of Unit 4 on the Professional Diploma in Architecture course at The CASS, London Metropolitan University, working in direct collaboration with leading industry partners. The last time we entered a Solar Decathlon competition we successfully produced SunBloc, the innovative RIBA Silver Medal winning project from 2012, which competed at the Solar Decathlon China 2013.

For the London Festival of Architecture we have put together our “work in progress” in the form of an exhibition and a series of events to share with you the innovative design solutions we are currently developing and implementing for SOL_ID, in order to contribute to the future of sustainable living. As part of this project, we are developing a biocomposite system grown out of mycelium and agricultural waste as well as implementing a novel Cross Laminated Bamboo system.

Visit our permanent exhibition about Solar Decathlon, Team Heliomet, SOL_ID, and on our innovative materials prototypes.

Judge our work at the SOL_ID Open Crit, as if you were a jury of Solar Decathlon. Date 2 June 18:00 - 20:00.
