Hammersmith looking to the future

13 June - 30 June
Organized by: West London Link Design
Lyric Square
W6 0QL
Our contribution to the LFA continues to grow out of our project to transform Hammersmith, currently bisected by the A4 corridor, by putting the road into a tunnel and reconnecting the town to its riverside. So far the project has been succesful locally and London wide in continuing to stimulate debate. Locally this is about how to replace the ageing Hammersmith Flyover and as a consequence about civilizing the traffic infested town centre, and its London wide success is seen in the enthusiasm for GLA/TfL and the Mayor's recent trumpeting from Boston for tunnel projects across London. We now want to return to the vision which was, and is, Hammersmith as a place to live and work reconnected to the Thames. We propose to take up a number of strands and weave them together to educate and involve local people, particularly the young, in steering the future to their world. Our aim is to set up a series of events set around Lyric Square and the Lyric Hammersmith, which is soon to be re-launched with education facilities, and we hope to coordinate these with the Hammersmith and Fulham Artfest also in June 2015. The main events we are working on include: Exhibition, Lectures, Schools
