Welcome to the London Architecture Diary, your essential guide to architecture exhibitions and events taking place across the city, brought to you by New London Architecture.
Nicholas is an archivist, historian, writer, curator and was the Director of the Canadian Centre for Architecture from 1989 to 2005.
2017 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Frank Lloyd Wright, and we have come to look at him through the deceptive if often ravishing lens of his office’s colour perspectives, grounded throughout his career in representational techniques developed at its earliest stages. But his methods and intentions are made much clearer in quite uncontrived and untraditional preliminary sketches and in the simplifying and graphically adventurous means he took to communicate in print the underlying structure and thinking behind a design. This presentation is devoted to the Wright we know less.
