Welcome to the London Architecture Diary, your essential guide to architecture exhibitions and events taking place across the city, brought to you by New London Architecture.
Periscope Landscape & Architecture will be talking about their ongoing work designing an Arts Centre in Kampala, Uganda.
Designed to utilise local construction techniques and handmade bricks, the proposed project will be made up of a campus of pavilions that integrate the landscape into the centre’s activities. It will become the new home for the not-for-profit organisation 32° East | Ugandan Arts Trust, which promotes African art and supports artists in residence from Uganda and East Africa.
The talk will focus on Periscope’s recent trips to Kampala and their work with Ugandan permaculture artist Brian Mugagga, designing a temporary garden for the Arts Centre on its new site. The project is supported by Arts Council England’s Artist’s International Development Fund.
