Welcome to the London Architecture Diary, your essential guide to architecture exhibitions and events taking place across the city, brought to you by New London Architecture.
This exhibition explores the masterplan for Irfan, a new city in Oman. Featuring drawings, sketches and models, the exhibit places this exciting project within the context of the New Urban Agenda, the framework for more liveable cities recently adopted by the United Nations.
Irfan will have a living, working and visiting population of 280,000, and our design for it learns from the past to build a more resilient, low carbon future - in the process, it could offer lessons for sustainable urban development for growing cities around the world.
Madinat al Irfan, an Urban Centre in Oman is being held in association with Bankside Design District at the London Design Festival. The exhibition is open weekdays 10am-5pm, from 20 September to 20 October.
Private view: 21 September at 6pm featuring panel discussion with Ricky Burdett, Paul Finch, Arup's Sowmya Parthasrathy and Alfredo Caraballo of Allies and Morrison. (Invite only. Those interested to attend should email firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 15 September).
