With the possible extension of the Bakerloo Line and a projected 13,500 new homes and 4,000 new jobs across the Opportunity Area of New Cross, Lewisham and Catford, the London Borough of Lewisham is witnessing a huge amount of growth. NLA are going to the borough for the first On Location event of 2018, exploring key issues such as housing delivery, new infrastructure, and uplift in the public realm.This afternoon session will bring together local stakeholders, including council representatives, occupiers, developers and investors to look at how investment is opening up new opportunities across the borough. Presentations will be followed by afternoon study tours of key areas and networking drinks.
Tour ADeptford and New CrossLed by Michael Forrester, Planning Officer (Deptford) and David Syme, Strategic Planning Manager (New Cross Gate masterplan)Setting off from the Laban Building, this tour will first stop off at Number One Creekside before exploring the transformation of Deptford, including the high street and Market Yard, before heading to New Cross Gate to hear about the plans for this new hub. Tour BLewisham Town Centre Led by Emma Talbot, Head of Planning Focusing on the developments currently shaping Lewisham’s growing town centre, this tour will start with an update on Lewisham Gateway before exploring key public realm improvements, including Cornhill Gardens. We will also look at new local amenities such as the leisure centre and visit the new Barratt scheme, Renaissance, where there is an innovative approach to local power supply. Tour CCatford Led by Jeff Endean, Housing Strategy and Partnerships Manager in Strategic Housing (Place Ladywell, Excalibur) and Kplom Lotsu, Capital Programme Delivery (Catford Town Centre)Covering key sites such as Milford Towers, Laurence House, the Town Hall and Civic Centre, and Plassy Island, this tour will provide an overview of Catford’s opportunities, before heading to PLACE Ladywell to look at the transformative scheme by RSHP and AECOM. You will be asked to indicate your first preference for the afternoon tours when booking, please note tour places are limited and allocated on a first come first served basis. We reserve a number of places for representatives of local amenity groups at our on location events.
