Shaping Our City: The Significance of Central Park

A triumph of picturesque landscape design and urban planning, this spring-time tour considers the history of the our beloved park and its impact on the Upper East and West Sides. Participants will learn about the Olmsted & Vaux’s innovative “Greensward” plan, addressing such key architectural features as The Dairy, The Mall and Bethesda Terrace, as well as the scenic carriage drives and all-important transverse roads. We’ll end on West 72nd Street, an important link to Riverside Park, another splendid Olmsted & Vaux creation.
