Welcome to the New York Architecture Diary, your essential guide to architecture exhibitions and events taking place across the city.
The City College of New York (CCNY) dates back to 1847 as the country's earliest free institution of higher education. Upon the campus' move to Hamilton Heights in 1907, an exciting array of historical events transformed the City College into one of the most fascinating colleges for its time. The campus has included buildings dating from 1847 to 2009, altogether contributing to the unique contrasts in architectural styles over the years.
On this tour with City College architecture student and campus guide Dalton Whiteside we will be visiting CCNY's vibrant Neo-Gothic campus, through the Modernism of the central campus, and to the newly renovated South Campus which originated as a convent. It's sure to be an educational adventure!
