The Postmodern Phenomenon: from failure to fashion-forward

24 January 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Organized by: New York School of Interior Design
Venue: New York School of Interior Design
170 East 70 Street
New York

Postmodernism, the most controversial and least understood style of the 20th century, has been making news with resurgences of vintage designs and the introduction of eye-catching new ones inspired by their lively color and iconoclastic forms of the 1980s originals. In this dynamic and thought-provoking presentation, design historian and author Judith Gura will discuss the history, designers, and iconic designs of the Postmodern movement, and the reasons behind its current and well-deserved revival. The lecture will be followed by a conversation, moderated by creative director of Metropolis, Paul Makovsky.

Postmodern Design Complete: Design, Furniture, Graphics, Architecture, Interiors was recently selected by the New York Times as one of 2017's best Art Books, it will also be available for purchase after the lecture.
